Firstly, hello and thank you for visiting the website. Balanced Roots came from my personal Pilates experience being far greater than just an exercise system. Part of Joseph Pilates’ principles of ‘Contrology’- or Pilates as it is now referred to- included the mind & body connection along with a focus on breathing giving a full holistic experience. Balanced Roots encompasses all this.
This is not only extremely important in a physical sense, but also in life. Many of us are struggling to find the time for ourselves. Pilates can provide both these things, through strengthening the ‘powerhouse’ to aid physical balance as well as giving you time to focus on your own body and getting within. A healthy body can be said to be in homeostasis or balance. It is when we lose this balance that we become unhealthy or ill in some way and this exercise system can help prevent this.
These are there to ground you and provide a strong platform. Again Pilates provides this through strengthening exercises but also reminds us of the importance of our connection with the ground. Whether this is standing, lying or any other position you may find yourself in, the ground can be used as a force to assist your every move. Roots are also where we came from; every single person has been on a unique journey which can be seen in our body. Rather than being a generic ‘one-size fits all’, this exercise system can be tailored to suit your own bodily needs, finding a way to make you the best you can be.
I offer classes in the beautiful Brighton & Hove, as well as bespoke Pilates tailor made to suit your personal journey. We are all looking to achieve different things from Pilates and your own goal is the most important thing.
