Ab Prep 1 is a great warm-up exercise for beginners, all the way through to advanced. It focuses on the gluteal muscles of the bum, as well as warming up the abdominals, hamstrings, and spine. Nearly every class you go to will have some variation of it, so once you’ve mastered the fundamentals there are a whole host of add-ons to play with, a few of which are demonstrated in the video.
The exercise is contraindicated for those with Osteoporosis or lower back issues, so there is also a variation shown. As with any exercise lying on the back it should not be performed by anyone over 4 months pregnant.
