Workshops are a great way to not only deepen your knowledge, but have fun whilst also meeting like minded people. My classes are often focussed on a particular area, but I can never fit everything into an hour. Workshops really get into the nitty gritty, allowing you to get more benefits from your practise and a greater understanding of your own body.

Pilates workshops are 2 hours long, consisting of around 30 minutes going into the details, an hour (mixed ability) Pilates matwork class to apply your new knowledge, and finishing with 30 minutes for questions and relaxation, including meditation. This period of relaxation I believe is perfect to assist the body in absorbing not the information AND the exercise. It is also another area you can take home with you and reap the rewards of.

Although the subjects can be complex I always aim to make them accessible, meaning they are suitable for everyone, including beginners.

Pilates Workshops, Brighton and Hove

The Pelvic Floor’s importance cannot be stressed enough. This applies as much to men as women by the way! Without it…well…you may know some of the things that can occur, but there’s a whole lot more to this area of the body.

Pilates exercises change in ease once we learn to use our Pelvic Floor and this workshop will help you find that strength from below!

You will receive many tools to take away with you such as how to strengthen your Pelvic Floor gently over time simply using sticky labels. Now you’ve got to find out more surely? 😉

Our shoulders are arguably, if not definitely, the most complex joint in the body. Think of all of the different movements that occur there. So much goes on in this area, but there can also be so much tension.

Every Pilates exercise uses our shoulders in some way. If we are doing them incorrectly we are actually going to increase the tension in them, which as I’m sure you may know…doesn’t feel good!

We really don’t want to lose the mobility here, so deepening our understanding helps provide a new awareness to develop new patterns in our daily lives to prevent this and undue tension occurring.

Most people (estimates are a staggering 80%) at some point suffer with lower back (lumbar spine) pain. It’s why I, like many started Pilates- but I also used to occasionally cause myself lower back pain in Pilates too!

Learning about this area of the body helped not only helped prevent this from occurring, but also improve mobility here. I want every-body to feel this freedom.

The little things we can do in day to day life can really help make big changes!

The area of the hips is up there with the shoulders with complexity. It is also up there with them as far as storing tension, but can be harder to notice. Our hips are used so much in everyday life, but are we using them correctly?

We can often be using our hips unnecessarily, adding to the tension and reducing mobility. We can also be doing the opposite and using bigger muscles instead of the muscles around the pelvis, creating imbalances and further issues.

Greater understanding and awareness will help your physical body immensely, but you will also learn about the emotional benefits!

The workshops are an amazing foundation for your regular classes where there isn’t time for such detail. They’re also perfect for Kundalates classes, which are an hour and a half to incorporate meditations and other yogic practises alongside Pilates. You can find out more about those here.
